The Pats aren't going to reach for an undersized nickel corner in the 2nd round

Belichick is a big believer in taking chances when he sees huge upside. He basically wasted a roster spot in 2000 keeping Tom Brady on the roster as a 4th QB just because of the potential he saw. FWIW - TM7 is about the same size as Terrell Buckley who went #5 overall.

The problem is that his value isnt in the 2nd round. Especially for a team with a nickel corner entrenched in the system that they just resigned for 4 yrs/20 million

Mathieu woul also play a lot of safety if he went to New England.

Well they were desperate enough to resign the corner that got his arse handed to him by Anquan Boldin in the AFC Championship game.....and it's not like NFL contracts are 100% guaranteed.

Anquan Boldin kicked every corners arse in the postseason he went against. Dude went off

And again, Kyle Arrington was only in that position due to an injury to Aquib Talib. Arrington is not very good on the outside but is a top 5 nickel cornerback. Which is why they resigned him

Why do people keep sayin idiotic stuff like this?? Like the kid is too small to play NFL ball, hell, he was supposed to be to small to play Div 1 football and look what he did. Tyrann Mathieu never was injury prone in his career at LSU like a lot of bigger football players. The kid is a terror and talent, and NE sounds like the perfect fit for him.

In today's NFL you need at least 4 solid corners. TM7 can play the dime or end up being a cheaper option at the nickel. Arrington got $16 million for 4 years. $6.5 million was the signing bonus and only his $1 million salary in 2013 is guaranteed (in addition to the signing bonus). He was clearly signed to get the Pats through 2013.

I agree the Pats need corner depth, just not at inside corner.

Especially not in the 2nd round. Would love to have him in the 3rd/4th round

This or 49ers would be my preferred teams for TM7 to go to.

it was funny when not to long ago the rantards were saying that he would either be a very late draft pick or an undrafted free agent.
