1. Why didn't he give JL a shot in the BCS game?

2. When he looks back at tapes from 2005-2007 does he not see how much better the offense was?

Honestly, why does everyone keep saying that??

We had a bad game plan and every single player played like shite while Bama played pretty much a perfect game in their do over.

Sure it sucked, but what's the big mystery?? Great teams, players, coaches have shitty games all the time. It happens.

Did you see the way they came out of the tunnel? All that year they came out as a group, jumping up and down, with Miles trying to hold them back and speak to them. 1/09 they drifted out listlessly in groups of 2 or 3. It fits with the rumors of a locker room blowup. It doesn't prove anything, but it fits.

I better not hear anyone say he couldn't throw.

Most of the other schools in the country didn't think he could throw either. Which is why none of them were recruiting him as a qb.

Oh, and if your question is why didn't Lee play, just go back and watch the First Game of the Century, or any other game Lee played against Bama aside from one pass at the end of the game in 2010.

Mystery solved

I really don't see the mystery either. Lee was the highest rated QB in the conference (around 150+ I believe), went into the UA game with everything going for him (success, strong D, great running game) and started throwing picks and curled up into a 'deer-in-the-headlights' fetal position. It could be said Coach Miles saw a distinct possibility of a rematch due to his remark "I would be honored to play that team again". We saw last year Zach may not be the savior we thought he'd be. JJ had done well against UA the prior year (2010). Their line played better than our line and that was that.

The mystery now is :1)is Les going to let Cam run the O completely (I think he will) and 2:)is he going to let Cam make all personnel changes. I'm not sure but I hope so. I The reports on Zach is mixed and if he is not making the grade I hope Cameron has the freedom to have another starter, if we have one better.

(1) JL for at least one series in the BCSNC.

(2) Charles Scott against UK in 2007.

There are a few more, but I think those were genuine risks. You can always change 20/20.

These two seemed strange at the time and still do.

Overall though very happy with Miles and his decision making.

#1 problem with 1/9 is the SEC championship game performance by JJ. 25 yards...fricking 25 yards for the entire game. He had 25 yards against a 3-4 defense that was not as good as Bama and Miles thought it was a good idea to let him play 100% of the snaps in the biggest game of Les's career. An LSU win on 1/9 caps by far the greatest season in the history of college football.

there is no mystery to 1/9

he loved Jordan Jefferson more than trying to win a national title

yeah coaches hate bonuses and titles and prestige and job security...

you honestly think JJ is the sole reason we lost that game? you think we win that game with JL? it's a fun " what if" but the only difference in which qb played was margin of their victory.

Yeah I get that.

I thought people were just talking about the gameplan/JJ/Lee situation.

Yeah the walk out did seem off, but I actually saw that as more of an indication that the layoff just took our mojo from us.

We built up momentum all season with the greatest year in school history, then get stuck with a deflating Rematch and have to sit for over a month before playing again.

The magic was just kind of lost unfortunately.

We've seen us take that break before bowl games and completely flip the switch on disappointing seasons to explode in bowl games.

But it's a whole different challenge to keep that lightning in a bottle going while sitting for a month. Especially when you're waiting to play a team you've already beaten and felt kind of cheated you had to play again.

I bet that entire month just sucked for everyone in the program.

I agree. The O took a slide when JJ was put back in. I just don't think Lee was ever going to beat UA and apparently Miles thought so too. But it's a done deal now. Hopefully Cam can develop these QB's so that 3rd and 5 means excitement...not 8 guys in the box.

It's not a "JJ should not play" argument. My question is how do you see him get destroyed in the SEC Championship and KNOW that Saban is going to do the EXACT same thing, yet you don't prepare at all. You just think you're going to return punts for TDs and rely on zero offense? Bama was an all time great team. Not saying LSU should've easily won. I'm asking WTF was Les thinking going into that game with the offensive gameplan of the option as this secret weapon that Saban would not be prepared to defend.

pretty much all of this. as bad as Jordan was in the BCS game, I think he was worse vs. UGA. so why you wouldn't be ready to put in Lee in case he shite the bed again is beyond me.

Like I said earlier, it stems from Miles naming JJ the starter and benching Lee. I think the team felt the offense was better under Lee. Everyone could see the offense was declining under JJ. Hell, we failed to pick up a first down against UGA in the first half.

To me, that is the most baffling decision Miles has made in his tenure. There was no reason to bench Lee for the remainder of the season, that was inexcusable, and apparently the team felt the same way if there really were locker room issues before 1/9.

In other words, why no option B? Like I said, when JJ came back in the 2nd series in the 3rd it was clear there wasn't an option B. I don't know, maybe we never will. My question is: What would have been a viable 'option B'? Lee throwing picks? Zach with limited mobility? I don't know. In 96 FSU beat UF in a close one. The bowl rematch was 52-20 Gator blowout. Maybe it's a motivation issue? I really don't know.

Yeah just a general sense of being prepared would've been nice. Not giving a literal definition of insanity on the biggest stage.

Instead he got his pants pulled down and his arse spanked in front of the world. From the greatest season ever to a Bama dynasty.
