When has a manager ever mattered to Uncle Roman?
Posted on 4/5/13 at 1:50 am to hendersonshands
Someone in this thread mentioned something about Chelsea needing to/trying to save some money. I got a good chuckle out of that one.

How can you make a transfer like this without a manager?

Great another Chelsea thread

You're smarter than that. I think.

AS Roma seems most likely to meet St Etienne's €12 fee for Gabonese spiderman Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
I like what I've see of Aubameyang this year the few times I've watched St Etienne. Along with Lamela, Destro, Nicolas Lopez and the energizer bunny Totti it would certainly keep the attack formidable even if Roma's main needs are defensive.
Would mean that Osvaldo's inability to control himself has finally worn out his welcome. I'm not too happy about this as Osvaldo is only missing the mental aspect of being a truly elite #9 but I suppose he's kind of made his own bed.
I imagine Roma would prefer to sell him to an EPL side but Napoli may also figure in the mix if they sell Cavani. Don't see him accepting the transfer to the richer Russian clubs that are interested.

St Etienne is not that desperate for money, are they?
Like most French players, my knowledge of him is based on FIFA. Turned out to be a good backup on my QPR super team. (Would've started anywhere else.)

City needs to send that raisin Vieira to Napoli or Madrid. Tired of seeing him try to hobnob with Lamela and Pjanic at every Roma match.

I keep reading more rumors that Tottenham is trying to negotiate a transfer of Osvaldo with AS Roma. Around €12 million which would be a loss for AS Roma but they may be desperate to unload him.
Makes sense for them but I'm also leery in that every window seems to have British press link Tottenham to buying half of Serie A for some reason when I can't remember a single time it's actually happened.

You think you guys hold on to Marqinhos and Lamela?

Absolutely. Pjanic too, regardless of offers unless something unforeseen arises where the player absolutely demands it. All three have continually affirmed their desire to stay with Marquinhos being particularly demonstrative about it.
The American ownership group has asked and received a lot of patience from fans in selling a lot of popular older players with the promise of building on youth. To move any of those three would be catastrophic for public relations unless they have photos of them giving the Lazio eagle a Fascist salute.
Osvaldo is probably gone because he's been a nutcase. Tachtsidis and Nico Lopez may be the only younger players to move and Lopez only on loan. Tachtsidis may be loaned but I could see selling him outright as well if we focus on another true Regista type. He's talented but not nearly ready and came in as second thought after we lost out to PSG for Verratti last summer.
Veterans like Burdisso and Taddei are the more likely to move on.
