Well if you buy Ozil you better be ready for more lapses. He's very lazy off the ball, and doesn't put in a defensive shift.

In the formation we play now Ozil would be perfect for the AM role. What I meant earlier is that playing say Podolski and Walcott wide leaves us a lot more vulnerable than if we play Cazorla and Walcott wide for example. Hence how Ozil could fit in our team. He could play the Bergkamp role and we would just have to adjust our shape to compensate.

Honestly, you really just have to concede that he's a player wasted defensively and is probably going to drift around, oftentimes anonymously, until brutalizing the opponent. Stick him at the top of a midfield three and move on, basically.
