Yup. I absolutely hated his movement today. It's alright to come back to the ball, but good frick please make a forward run. He literally never does it. It's really fricking annoying.

were the reports before the game today true...implying that players just won't sign with arsenal?
i hadn't really heard that on this board, so i took it with a grain of salt

It's hard to get them to believe in Wenger's project at this point. We are sort of gutted in the youth department now as we've had several promising prospects not make the cut, so we have to buy depth somewhere. It's irritating, but our first 11 can compete with anyone. It's our second 11 that is really lacking.

it's hard to judge based on who we've targeted. the only two where it reached the players (that we know about) are Suarez and Goose. Suarez would've signed with us. Goose's comments seemed to indicate he would have as well, though Wolfsburg made an ungodly offer.
the others we know we've made an offer for are Bender (club rejected) and Cabaye (who seems to be pushing for a move). the rest is just speculation. if that's the case, CL qualification today should help in player recruiting. maybe a bigger name might not have committed before our CL status was confirmed.

When he does, good things happen. He is a straight line type of player. Those are the runs he needs to make.

It's true that we've targeted the wrong player over and over this summer. It's hard finding good players for what Wenger wants to pay. I mean, 10 mil bought Gervinho a couple of years ago and he was shite mentally. We are just going to have to admit we need to be conservative in the market and rely on Wenger until he retires, by which point I hope we will have won something.

He's also kind of dumb. Football intelligence is quite low. I like him when he plays wide, but I'd rather he play like a forward rather than a midfielder.

Agreed. When he plays wide like he has done for Germany he can be productive. He has pace and as we all know a cannon of a left foot.

BBC reporting we're working on deals for Benzema and Di Maria. Also, we're still very much in for Cabaye and we're chasing a GK and a defender. They say we could spend close to £100m.
I don't love Di Maria, but if he's our Poldi replacement, I'm totally down.

i don't love Benzema, but maybe Wenger could harness his talent. Di Maria could give us some good old fashioned wing play and open up space in our too-oft congested attack. I'd prefer a DM in there somewhere, but if we closed with Benzema, Di Maria, Cabaye, a defender and a GK, I would be pretty pleased.

Atleast we would look serious in the market. French and Argentine internationals. I'll fricking take it.
We have the cash, it is doing no good sitting in a pocket. :enclosed by a zipper:

I don't mean to be a dick, but do you at all believe that there is an iota of a chance of this happening? You haven't signed anyone (of importance) all summer; how are you going to tie up these five in less than two weeks?
Posted on 8/21/13 at 8:20 pm to LSUtiger17
sure there's an iota. I'm unconvinced Real would sell both but our previous dormancy doesn't really effect whether these deals will happen. we always do things late.

Who is Real getting other than Bale to replace them with?
Posted on 8/21/13 at 8:52 pm to ATLienTiger
isco and bale make di maria expendable.

Is Destro good enough that losing Lamela will be ok?
