I'll be at Death Valley for the TAMU game.

My dad won't go. Insists the place is a cesspool of indecency. I've always thought the stories were distorted or overblown. But he swears up and down he had beer and food thrown at him each time he visited.
Can you give me a little primer? I'll cheer diligently but respectfully. I enjoy chatting with opposing fans during the game. Are y'all generally open to that? Or are all bets off after kickoff? For those who visited CS in 2012, how would you compare the visitor treatment to BR?
You never know what could happen, and each place has its share of assholes. But generally speaking, what should I expect? And if there's any validity to pop's claims, has there been a change in the last ~20 years?
TIA.

I have season tickets and have never seen food or beer thrown. Sometimes they'll throw a cup full of drink up in the student section into the air after we score or something.

It is all fun and games until LSU falls behind. You shouldn't have any problems.

your dad is correct
nowhere near the class and civility displayed at kyle field on an annual bass

Good food and good people. The trash and dickheads are the small minority. If your dad got hit with a drink, well that just sucks, it happens everywhere not just at lsu. In the SECOND most stadiums are hostile.

Your Dad is correct.
Do not come to Baton Rouge for the game.
YOur safety is more important than a 3 hour football.
You could get hurt. Stay home.

I wonder if it was your dad who spit on me when I went to Kyle Field as an 8-year old?

We try to be friendly. I've read similar accounts where the hospitality reached annoying levels. Probably attributable to us being excited about the SEC.

If you congregate with other TAMU fans and stick by them you won't be as harassed. I also highly doubt you'll get physically hurt as long as you don't say something really rude or insulting. It's just football, not life or death.

You'll likely have rocks and broken bottles thrown at you.
LSU fans value beer and food to much to throw them. With all due respect, you're Dad is not telling the truth.

I don't doubt that at some point in time, someone had a bottle or something thrown at them in TS. I had a coke thrown on me at Kyle Field in 1987. It happens. But the vast majority of visiting fans have no such issues.

There is no team on earth that I hate like Alabama. Every home game we have a few fans tailgating with us. It's friendly shite talking. Same in Tuscaloosa, until you beat them. Then they turn into the biggest sore losers on the planet.
