Just for some recreational catching, is now a good time? We went bowfishing last weekend and they were EVERYWHERE, but that was way out in the marsh, are they in close where you can catch em from shore?

Was half expecting a pre-summer prop stop thread

I always had better luck is summer time on full moons. Don't know if you don't try though

Spring break is typically a good time to catch something, crabs being one thing.

As of 2 weeks ago they were small in the dulac area. We left some traps out for 3 days and had like 8 or so crabs in each and they were all little.

Yep, said they couldn't buy a catfish, but reeled in enough crabs for a boil. Not many big ones but decent 2s

Generally the hotter the weather the better the crabbing. So, it still may be a bit early.

Yes it is, commericial guys that crab our lease still have over half their traps on the bank. May is really the month they get cranking in the marsh.
