the concept is interesting on a national scale. completely negating the national implications and focusing only on one family and one house is going to make this movie terrible.

I can't wait for it to come out so the M/TV board can complain about how it wasn't scary and dig through the plot holes.
For me I find it ingriguing, although I will probably end up being disappointed. Just like I was with Sinister recently.

I don't think it's supposed to be scary, at least not in a "horror" sense. More of a psychological thriller type. Either way, it looks interesting.
