Legally I have to be out with a vehicle in person to run it. If it came back with issues and I did nothing I would have some explaining to do. Just keep the pic and in the future put a time/date stamp on it. If something ends up going wrong it will have evidentiary value. Close pic with plate and one with the whole vehicle with identifiable background if possible.

Was that a black Ford truck? I just saw on WAFB crime stoppers had a bunch of stuff stolen and it showed video of a newer black Ford truck. Going to their website to look for more info...

I wouldn't. You took a picture of his vehicle in a public place. Heck, it is 2013 - you should have told him his vehicle was already photographed 37 times that day, statistically by banks and other security cameras around - at least you were man enough to do it where he could see you.

Regardless of what kind of truck it is; I would call they plate in to crime stoppers and give it a description match and let the person catch hell from the cops...
