There was a band from Dallas a few years back called Reflection Theory. They opened for Pet Shop Boys and Erasure locally. Also played a lot of rave-type gigs (even though they were an actual full band)... fashion shows, too. The leads are now pursuing solo projects.

Reflection Theory - Don't Promise Me

And to show the range of the stuff they played...

Reflection Theory- It's Been Too Long

ETA:

roll n' chill to this one (uh... in the day, that is) - Reflection Theory- Another Light

They've been playing around BR and Nola quite a bit the last few weeks. They're worth checking out live.

I feel like these guys have a decent shot to "make it." Have you heard any of the new album? I really like what I heard (unmastered).

I only know one of them, but he was like one of my little brothers at LSU. I'll give you a hint, he's the one that looks the most like a bum.

The american tragedy

i saw them open a couple shows and liked them, but never really heard anything outside of those few nights. was curious enough that i remember the name years later, but never actually got a cd

in a different genre, one that ive caught myself going to with some regularity lately is hurray for the riff raff when they are in town.
