I have been thinking about getting a credit card to charge some minor purchases and always paying it off at the end of the month to build some credit as a college student.

Has anyone had any experience with the American Express Blue Sky card? It looks like a good option to me but I am a dumbass compared to the awesome knowledge of the Money Board

I have it. It's not a bad one to get to start building up some credit.

I just ordered one. The 30,000 point sign up promotion enticed me.

Annual fee?

Because of this board, I recently got the AMEX Blue cash preferred. It's got the 6% cash back on groceries at Kroger (not WMT or warehouse clubs), 3% at standalone gas stations, 2% at dept stores, 1% elsewhere.

I want to thank the MB for this. Annual Fee is $75 but that will be easy to make up.

It's board claims that it is hard to get an Amex if you have little or no credit history fwiw. I cannot speak for or against this exact card but I love my Amex

I have no idea about internationally... But with my Delta Amex I have gotten 5 domestic flights for free over the past 2.5 years and still have enough miles for 2 more at a medium mileage range

About $400 towards any flight, hotel, or other travel expenses.

And no annual fee.

I got mine for 15 month no APR also.

Chase Sapphire Preferred is what I recommend.

While a good card, I doubt he would be approved if this is his first card but what do I know

I'm not sure about cash, but I doubt it considering its promoted as a travel rewards card. I know you can redeem gift cards though.

I stand corrected. Good deal. Now you'll be that annoying guy like me talking about points all the time.

This makes me want to apply for the Chase Sapphire next. I'm trying to read up on maximizing points through various ways, and that card's point transfer policy is apparently pretty good.

I already have a "fixed" points card, so I need to explore the benefits if any.
