Yep, just saw the "soft opening" message go up on their Facebook page. Good deal.

I'll wait till Saturday, or next week. I know there will be lots of kinks to work out. Could take 6 months to get it smoothed out. Great potential.

Wife stopped by and said it was nice. Prices are about the same. Said it reminded her of Leblanc's, but with touches of whole foods. Pizza oven, gelato, lots of wine, not much beer, organic/natural stuff, but still an AG store.

Not offered in that area, idk why you have some much hate for the place. I'm about to go check it out as well, doesn't sound like they have the deli sandwiches or salad bar like whole foods

Yeah, what a dumb idea. Put a big new shiny store that has elements of 2 highly successful grocery "chains" in a very affluent area that is underserved.

Just checked it out.

Very nice place. It's basically a nice AG store on the aisles, but a lot of specialty items along the periphery. The produce looked good. Didn't spend much time scrutinizing everything they offer, but looks like a place where you could do regular shopping and find those specialty items you can't get at basic grocery stores. The coffee shop is a nice addition, along with outdoor seating similar to Whole Foods.

The beer selection is pretty decent. It's no Calandro's, but it's definitely way better than Albertson's or Winn-Dixie. Wine selection appeared to be better.

Picked up some specialty sushi rolls while I was there for dinner. It was very good for decent price.

Agree with above, talked to the guy upfront who seemed to be the owner, he said its "just selling groceries" on the right side which they are familiar with , and the "cafe" (as they are calling it) is new to them. Had people going around talking to everyone so I think that part of it will improve as they learn more or what people want.

Overall think its a good edition, hope the cafe improves, and not sure why all the hate for the beer selection, I thought they had a lot to offer in terms of 6 packs, just lacking the specialty big bottles.

Just got back and agree with everything you said. The guy in the beer section said they were getting more craft beers in soon and to let him know if there was anything special I wanted. I think it's a good sign they are already trying to get more.

I think it is great that you all are pulling for a little guy who is taking the risk to put a solid product/service out there.

It's ok and has potential but it's not earth shattering. I just pulled a NY Strip I bought this evening from there off the grill and it was nice.

I did a quick blow through because I had a moment and I'll give it time to breathe and hit it on a weekday morning when I can take a bit of time and compare. It's new. I'll give it that.

Calvin's and Maxwell's specialty food and beverage stores, HaHa. Come take a look at a real specialty store and see how it's done. Those boys from St. Amant got it going on.

Well you have that wrong. The St Amant boys have 10 hours in this.

Maxwells does a ton of business across the street from Whole Foods and Calvin's. And Calvin's prints money with zero debt. Your St Amant boys have a very large note to tote. They better keep their foot on the gas. And from what I saw today its mediocre.

So you have them all figured out after walking through the store on their first day? I have a vision right now of this whole pecker measuring contest being some kind of reality show. LOL

Thread wasn't started for that reason, but it sure has devolved to that. Wait until Rouses opens next year, then it will be fun to watch.

Martini, what do you know about Bacchus? Brought it up in R2R's thread last night, but didnt know much past the few times I have stopped in.
