re: SEC Soccer

Aren't you from Georgia? How do you have any idea how good LA soccer is? I grew up in the lake Charles area and at the time STL was churning out lapiras, but baseball was king, football also very popular. New Orleans, Laffy and Shreveport have pretty good soccer.

I have absolutely no idea where we would stand on a state by state ranking, but without a big D1 program it's hard to say. I feel like you 100% guessed lol I will say that I lived in WI my 9th- 11th grade years and their soccer was much better, they have the same amount of electoral college votes as LA so I'm going to assume the populations are similar.

I would say the kids in LA who play soccer aren't really that bad, problem is not that many kids play.

Like I said I would have no idea where to rank the state 1-50, but there are some pretty god damn good players to come through ie lapira, Mullins, George the Greek and Henderson hands lol

Hockey is weird in Southern USA, it all deals with some Canadian moving in and taking the iniative to set things up. Laffy used to have a pretty big ice hockey program. Idk what it's like these days

Does UAH have soccer? I knew it was kinda odd they had hockey there.
They do have soccer. So does UAB. UAH has the only NCAA hockey team south of the Mason-Dixon.

It was an oddly specific ranking, but you can generally get a good idea of how good other states are by playing teams, watching teams, or talking to people.

We produce some solid players who go on to play at a decent level in college beyond the two-three names generally mentioned in threads like these, and some others who might have played if they had more opportunities, but overall, we're not a big deal on a national level. In any given year, a big club team from Dallas might have 2-4-6 x's the number of players who go on to play D1 soccer than the entire state of Louisiana.

Agree for sure, even in Wisconsin which is cold as shit, the soccer was much better and a way bigger deal.

No biggie. I think Auburn and Alabama's law programs are equal.

it was actually the opposite. i thought about where they might land population wise, and decided middle of the pack sounded right. soccer has some fluctuations population wise (like north carolina might be higher than theirs as might kentucky or missouri or ohio) but it sticks pretty well to population unlike football where lousiana and georgia can greatly outperform higher populated northern states. thus 25 out of 50.

and you guys are basically agreeing with me so i dont get the questioning in the estimate at all.

as for how i know, it's always a guess but like you said it's from playing teams, watching teams, and general talk/following youth and college soccer. i think 25 is a fine estimate.

how many guys from louisiana go to D1 schools each year?

Oh, I wasn't really questioning it. That seemed fair.

I think that there were like two from my age group. There are never too many in any given year. I'm sure that we have years with none.

I can't say how many were D1 but I know about 15 that played some type of college ball my age group.

re: SEC Soccer

instead of D1 scholarships? bull shite. getting a soccer scholarship isnt that hard if you try for one. tons of people pass up shitty non D1 offers and go to places like UGA and LSU. almost no one passes up D1 offers, though.
