Kimber .22LR conversion kit for 1911s

Anybody know if the Kimber conversion kit will fit my old man's S&W 1911? Confusion lies in if he has a "ramped barrel" or not. Please forgive my ignorance, as I am a rifle nerd beginning the descent into handgun knowledge
He's torn between one of those or buying the browning 1911 .22LR
