re: Republican National Committeeman condemns 'filthy homosexuals'

Yeah, the "without government behind them" is such a strange statement. The ONLY thing the govt can potentially do to get "behind them" is endorse gay marriage, but that's only because the govt chooses to be in the marriage business in the first place. To this point, the govt has just been "behind them" raping them of things afforded to everyone else.

Why does less than 5% of humanity garner so much attention?

Ask the social conservative wing of the republican party. Everyone else is ready to allow gay marriage, realizing that it affects the rest of us NOT AT ALL.

The anti-gay marriage crowd is winning the tug of war, so they're the ones putting in all of the effort.

So allowing marriage for 1% fringe is the right thing to do, correct?

Homosexuals are not a "minority". That is the whole goal of the "agenda". Homosexuals want minority and "protected class" status for the purpose of filing lawsuits.

We allow it now.
We just do not provide tax benefits commensurate with traditional marriage.

And this guy is a phucking idiot and deserves to be immediately fired.

Let's end this stupid "issue." "Hello, I'm ________, chairman of the Republican Party. We believe in the separation of Church and State. We believe in individual rights and leaving folks alone to live their lives w/o an intrusive Big Brother overseeing their every step. We do not believe in redefining the word "marriage." What we DO believe however is that committed same sex couples must enjoy the same benefits as traditional married couples -- tax benefits, etc. etc. etc. If a particular Church administers same sex marriages, they can knock themselves out. If a particular Church does not perform or recognize such marriages, they can knock themselves out as well. We don't care."

Next "issue"?

Just read that Agema is not going to resign. He said he is "standing strong for conservative values".

I didn't know hating gays was a conservative value.

being for marriage defined as a man and woman is not equal to hating anyone.

How does a party fire an ELECTED member of its national committee?

He shot that accusation my way a while back too.

IRL I'm about the most gay respectful, non-homophobic straight-person imaginable. If a fool was stupid enough to make comments resembling those in the OP in my presence, I suspect he'd be in for a far more unpleasant exchange than would be the case with most pro-gay marriage libs here.

However, having heard with my own ears extremists laying out rationale for marriage vs CU, and knowing CU would get my gay friends everything they'd desire + marriage, it pisses me off that the issue has been usurped by anti-churchers as a "useful" issue. It is equally unsettling that libs are willing to overlook obvious motives and duplicity, and call others paranoid or homophobic for not doing the same.

I suppose I could review the last few days and collect your posts where you objectify and dehumanize gay people and pontificate as to why they should not be pushing for equal rights (I really will, though, if you back me into a corner), but it's not worth it at the moment.

So if the court rules that homosexual and heterosexuals should be treated equally, it's imposing morality? Really?

Look, I have no doubt that there are some a-hole activists with an agenda. But, I have to analyze the issue without regard to the a-holes if you want to know the truth. And the concern about the a-holes isn't enough for me to condone treating regular gay people differently than heteros.
