That processor isn't great. Most of the i3s will outperform it pretty substantially.
I hate how there are no AM3 itx boards on the market. I could throw this 955 BE I have lying around in one and be good to go

yall, should i buy poncho's setup?
Like every one else has said, if you get a good price then sure. Its not a bad setup. With that being said don't reach for it because putting one together is easier than you think. You also will get plenty of help from this board. The other thing is just buying researching your parts a little bit and putting it together, even if you have help, you will learn a lot that will help you later. Maybe you just want it easier than that but I love to learn that stuff so I enjoyed the research and build.

yeah its an odd gap in the market, but I suppose the manufacturers just assume youll use FM2 if you wanted to go AMD small form factor.
that said, there are plenty of nice mATX htpc cases out there, and of course an abundance of AM3 mATX boards.

i meant APU. obviously AMD is pushing their all in one solution for the SFF style computers. that said, they should encourage mobo manufactures to provide FM2 mITX boards with pci mini slots vs pcix16 slots. a mini ITX board with an APU and two usable expansion slots (like for a tv tuner/dvr) would be really useful in HTPC land.
all this might be irrelevant with googles new toy though

possibly a very stupid question, but id rather play it safe than mess someting up.
So i have gotten all my components that i need for my computer, but thanks to the worlds carrier service (Fedex) i am not getting my ram in this week even though paid for it to be here by today. Anyways, will it be alright if i purchase a cheap DDR3 just to set everything up and run diagnostics on my system. Then, switch them out on monday.

That's annoying, hate when that happens. Yeah, you can use "temporary" DDR3.
I have two 2GB sticks of some OEM DDR3 1333 that you can borrow if you're willing to drive out to Central. If so, let me know. It's been banging around in a junk drawer for a while so I'll need to test it to make sure it still works first.

I'm curious what games is everyone playing at the moment? I'm off of work for about two weeks and been bored at home lol.

He was up until like 3 AM talking to me on steam while I was building mine. What a guy.

Recently played through the Metro games (2033 and Last Light). Started Deus Ex and it seems fun. Also started Fallout 3 with some mods, but most of my time has been spent making the mods work. It was really unstable at first. Getting into it now. Hasn't sucked me in like Skyrim, but I tend to get distracted by old shitty engines if the gameplay/story aren't making up for it completely.

I don't know why but I rarely play single player games. I've bought a few like Skyrim, sleeping dog, and etc. I just can't pull myself to finish them. I recently started playing Counter Strike 1.6 again with a little BF3 on the side

I played about halfway through codename 47 for this reason and stopped. Cool game when it came out I'm sure but it is waaaay out of date and not smooth at all. I'm just watch the back half of it on youtube which is what I pretty much had to do anyway to beat the missions

I've been playing Shadowrun: Returns a bit. Only a 12 hour campaign I heard but it dropped with editing tools and full access to game scripting so user content will be along shortly.
