I'd advise you to start your own thread, as it will get more traffic and we try to keep this one free of those types of builds, as it would clutter up the thread (it also looks awesome to have a lot of PC gamer threads on the board )
having said that - what size monitor are you looking for and can we assume you just want a standard 1080p one ?
eta: question 2 - do you have a specific case or style of case in mind? aka flashy, small, silent etc

I think I can live with 1080p.
I would like a quiet case with good airflow.

that budget will be fine for ultra settings at 1080p and you'll probably have some wiggle room in the budget for more storage, cosmetics, or ram. please make another thread with listing intended use, parts needed, future plans, things you would value most(graphics vs cosmetics vs processing etc), and budget. we can guide you from there.

Start your own thread like it was already stated and we would love to help. At $1300 you will be able to max 1080. BF4 may tax it when the times comes but thats going to happen. I max almost everything at 1080 but there will always be something like crysis that kills you.

Thanks for the help already! I have placed it in a new thread to not muddle this one up!

An Intel representative told Gasior that since the standard Haswell processors are targeted for business and consumer applications “where overclocking is generally not performed,” access to the additional base clock straps of the Haswell processor are disabled in all but the K-series processors. Those run $20 to $30 more than the standard processors. (There is still a “turbo” multiplier mode available to boost performance of the CPU itself, however.)
The K-series CPUs don’t include a number of the features that make Haswell attractive. These include VT-d I/O device virtualization, which allows virtual machines to get better performance out of a shared I/O device by dedicating it to a specific VM, and TSX extensions for transactional memory, which lets threads of a program to run in parallel and roll back changes if a required thread fails to complete (instead of locking access to the memory down to a specific thread).
I saw this earlier, what are they referring to in this line?
It seems to me, it just goes on to describe a k-series chip advantage.
ETA: I think I read it right now, it's just worded kinda funny.

Luckily for me I don't know what any of those features are.
On a side note, how hot is too hot for a laptop when gaming?mine gets in the 80's

I think I'm going for nearly the same thing. I might drop two 7950's tho.

What is the difference between the asrock pro and extreme series?
Posted on 6/19/13 at 7:42 pm to Mr Gardoki
Looks like in the 3-series at least, the difference between extreme and pro is that extreme3 has 2 PCI-e 3.0 slots, and the Pro has 1.

September might bring in a good harvest for upgrades. 8970s and 4960Xs!

I read about it on ocn earlier but didn't post it. I'm interested in the price points they will offer, they always do well there.

yep
only need one pci-e slot since i have no intentions of running crossfire.
if i add it up, i cant believe how little i actually spent on this build. working in a computer shop has its advantages
