The publication(s) put together by Lee Breechan. One of their staffers contacted my son about coming for a photo shoot and interview-is this a money grab, or is it legit? I've been getting his mailers since my oldest was playing, but since he wasn't interested in playing at the next level, I never really researched it. Can some of you guys give me your thoughts on if we should do this or not? My younger son has some interest in playing at the next level, even if he's being forced to play a position that isn't the one that would optimize that opportunity. Unfortunately soccer and baseball scholarships don't offer much to defray college costs.

I find it to be a pretty good magazine. Lee Breechan is legit IMO. Not sure what you're leary of with it.

I don't think it's a money grab. Lee's a stand up guy and has been doing this for years.

Lee basically has two businesses. One is the magazine, and the other is a consulting business for parents who want impartial advice on how good their kids are, which camps they should go to, which schools are likely to offer, etc.

Lee seems to be a good guy from what I can tell.

Thanks for the feedback. It all seems on the up and up, but with folks selling services from chasing scholarships to filling out applications, parents of college-bound HS kids could easily go broke in a hurry. His work product has always appeared well-done, I just knew there were some on here that would be able to re-enforce my observations. Anyone have an idea what the consulting help GOP refers to costs? I know I used to do consulting work, and I'm hoping his billing rate is less than mine was.

I'm not sure what Lee costs, but I know of a place that for if I remember correctly, 25, bucks a month will email info on the kid to 25 different schools every week. I used to be a Regional Director for them, just didn't have the time to keep up with it. Look up Upperhand Promotions.

Congratulations to the Rant; this was a helpful, courteous exchange. Probably the best I've seen here, Good luck to the OP.

Agreed. While we are all passionate about our Tigers, I think we are all even more passionate about our kids. This is the most help I've gotten since asking where the best hamburger in Baton Rouge could be found on the F&D Board. Although this has been a lot less contentious.

I'm all about the kids, first. I firmly believe that if a kid wants to play College Football, there is a place for him, from D-1 all the way to NAIA. I've seen Rosters where O-Lineman are 5'10, 230, so there are spots out there.
Of course, the lower classification you go, the scholarships disappear, but they help line you up with financial aid. I've set kids up with contacts to Geneva College in PA, Crown College in MN, a brand new program at Oklahoma Baptist and some others. Frank Wilson went to Geneva before transferring to Nicholls, fwiw.

It may be a good experience for your son to go through but there's not a lot of positivea that will come out of it in the long run.

The magazine is out to put aa many names as possible to sell to families but the quality of the product - especially the writing filled with a large amount of mistakes - leaves a lot to be desired.

he tries to talk up every team even when it's blaringly obvious you can't...

his first and second team all LA might be legit but for best of the rest it's pretty obvious you just pay and they put you on there

he doesn't try to predict anything as far as teams go.

Damn, almost made it through a whole thread without an a-hole showing up. I knew it was too good to be true.

That's a good thing. Pointless and unnecessary to try to predict what teams are going to do when so many different things can affect what actually happens.
You should be happy about this, being from Chalmette.

If you or your son are on Facebook, Lee has a page there and there's one for the magazine too. May be some feedback about his service on them.

Recruitingvalue.com is his recruiting service site. Price for his "Parents" seminar is listed on the page.

so a little sarcasm in response to a post that skewers a recruiting mag for it's grammar and I'm the a-hole? Ok.
