Tavon Austin is the best skills guy out there. He fits perfect in this offense. Morgan fills the same role as Patterson, Austin can do so much more and play any spot on the field.
Austin is a slot guy. Lance Moore is pretty entrenched there.

You know it's bad when a Nnamdi thread gets derailed by Tavon Austin and Patterson.

The dude is a freak and killed it at the combine. WRs like him come along every 4-5 years. He'll be a fantasy stud in 2-3 years.

Payton is building defense through FA so he can go WR in round one.

Two years ago we had A.J. Green and Julio Jones in the same draft.

They are probably both considerably better NFL WRs than Austin.

Green and Jones are different WRs, those are tall guys that go up and get the ball. Austin is a guy like Sproles that makes plays after he touches the football. Lance is a possesion WR and Colston is your go-to guy like Jones & Green

So who was the last WR like Austin to enter the draft?

Percy Harvin, Harvins problem was he couldnt stay healthy with head troubles. That was an issue at UF as well. As far I know, Austin has no injury problems

I'm sure there are people on here who are much more knowledgeable about salary cap issues than I am, but maybe they would think about drafting Austin as a replacement for Moore because his contract might get a little more expensive in the next few years

Jones and Green are 6'3-6'4, Austin is 5'8-5'9 dont tell me they cant go up and get the ball. Austin doesn't do that.

And the Saints haven't had a WR anywhere near "once every five years" type of elite talent at any point in the Brees era...and yet QB9 goes for 4K-plus yard a year like clockwork with what he does have on hand (UDFAs like Lance, 7th rounder like Colston, etc.).

Would totally be out of character for this organization to go WR in the first given this fact alone.

didn't say they couldn't... I just asked you to provide proof...

and FYI just because you're 6'4+ doesn't mean that you can jump

A.J. Green has made a pretty good career from it. And Roddy is the Falcons deep ball go up and get it guy. Jones was that guy at Bama, he just plays a different role at the moment.
