I'd be curious to see how Southern, Loyola, and Tulane stacked up by this measure.

If you work at outback as a hostess, the school still reports you as employed. Those are bull shite numbers.

I don't think anyone ever doubted LSU Law, but the demand for the profession in general.

I hadn't read the article. I did now. And I stand by what I said. Those are bull shite numbers. LSU didn't have 81% pass the bar. And of the ones that did, 81% are not employed as attorneys. Bull shite numbers

More power to them, but employed =/= raking it in. Sounds like the market is over crowded with lawyers. Like to see some income figures to go along with that.

Not everyone who graduated stayed in Louisiana. Many went out of state and passed another states bar exam and became employed. Also, one or two year clerkships require a JD but not bar passage and some of them wait to take the bar.

When I graduated, our passage rate was much higher than that.

the article says 81% of the class is working in a job that requires bar passage. That's certainly not the case.

Probably shining the shoes of SULC grads. LSU doesn't wanna see Southern in a street fight.

re: For the LSU Law doubters.

If you are expecting to walk into a job as a practicing attorney after graduating you better be ready to fight for it. I am a graduating 3L, spent my summers working for free for a private firm and the US Attorney's Office.

I had 8 years of experience in the military prior to going to law school - which is one of the saving graces that has opened doors for me. I have friends that are straight from undergrad that have absolutely no idea what they are going to do - the competition is fierce for what jobs their are out there, and just having an ungrad degree and a JD means you are EXACTLY as qualified as every other graduating student that is flooding the market.

I'm not saying going to law school is a bad decision, but I am saying you better buckle your chinstrap and get ready to get your Spartacus on if you want a job in 3 years. I can personally attest that the days of living the high life as a law student, getting paid for summer internships, and having firms fight over you during 3L year is over.

Pretty meaningless. I dropped out of #1 on that list. For all we know most of those jobs from LSU grads are 25k public defender positions.
