I have a buddy that is wanting to sell a S&W Mod 24-3 Blued 6.5" barrel in .44 Special SR# ABZ4XXX
He told me to name my price. Any of you wheel gun experts know what is a good "friend" price to ask for?

It is still in the original box if that does anything to the price. He said he got it in the mid-80s.

Quick check on GB returned a couple that were ranging between $700-$1500.
Is it pinned and recessed? That might put a little more value in it. Really it depends on how good a friend he is and how bad he wants to get rid of it.
Smiths seem to be holding value well and increasing year after year, so it should be a fairly safe investment for you.
Maybe you could find something to trade (in addition to cash) that will make it more interesting than just a straight cash sale - maybe you have something sitting in the safe that you never use and wouldn't mind parting with that he would like...just an idea
