Been to Root and LPG...both very good albeit very different.

Couldn't go wrong with either of those.

Tomas probably the weak link. Other 3 are great-might
have trouble with getting a reservation though.

Root has a very unique and daring menu. Most people either love it or hate it. Of the places you listed, I would say Root. Love the compressed watermelon salad and Yorkie dessert.

ditto.

also have heard fantastic things about Gautreau's and the chef is very highly thought of.

just an fyi Open Table says (for Sat. at least) Root has a 6:45 and a 9, LPG has a 6:30 and a 8. might want to lock up something soon. big weekend in Nola.

Only one I would advise against.

You can't go wrong with the other 3 (besides Tomas), but they aren't that easy to get last minute reservations, so do it now.

Root if you have adventurous eaters.

Gautreau's or Le Petite if you don't. The Chef at Gautreau's is one of the James Beard Nominees this year.

Haha, no, it actually consists of a peppermint patty, cocoa puffs, and minted milk. Sounds odd but it's delicious.
