I'm still half-expecting him to parachute onto midfield during the match tonight.

Even though some intern probably told him about it, it's pretty cool hearing BO mention our little national team niche sport.

There would be nothing better to revitalize Landon Donovan than to have a bottle of piss thrown at him after he scores a game winning goal.

The soccer fan in President Barack Obama wants to see Landon Donovan return to the U.S. national team for World Cup qualifying.
Now.
"You wanna take Air Force One to Mexico City?" Donovan was asked Tuesday during a visit to the White House. "We can still make it. Just say the word."
The injury-depleted Americans could use the former Earthquakes star in Tuesday night's showdown against favored Mexico at famed Azteca Stadium. The game starts at 7:30 p.m. PT on ESPN and Univision.
The exchange occurred as the President welcomed Donovan and his MLS Cup champion L.A. Galaxy at the White House. Donovan, who has been America's star midfielder for the past decade, has taken a break from national team play because of exhaustion.
He's needed more than ever Tuesday because midfielder Jermaine Jones twisted an ankle in Friday's 1-0 victory over Costa Rica and can't play at Mexico.

Honestly? Who even refers to him like that anymore.
He's been with LAG for double the appearances and 3 times as many goals.

And this fricktard said no?
How do you turn that down?

I actually just looked up his Wikipedia to see if that was a typo.

Just realized Hendo's story was from a San Jose newspaper.

That's where I got my "double appearances, 3 times goals" comment

He isn't the first president to support soccer:

Just wondering how this thread would go over on the Political Talk Board...
