4 Wheeler problems....Calling GreaseMonkey

Alright a while back I was having problems with my 4 wheeler boggin down when I gave it gas. I took the carburetor apart and cleaned it up good. Had alot of corn residue in it. Got it all cleaned up and it now runs perfect except for now it will let fuel poor out the drain hose. I guess that is an overflow drain hose or something. Anyway the motor runs fine but it is leaking gas.
MY brothers was having the same problems and he cleaned his carb and it is losing fuel exactly like mine is so both of us did something wrong when we were cleaning the carbs on our bikes.
I am guessing maybe the float is sticking or something?

your float is hanging open. Probably the needle sticking in the seat. I use the head of a match stick to buff out the seat area before putting carbs back together.

Is it a Honda, If it is i'd had to replace main gasket around the carburetor bowl.

You wouldnt notice there is anything wrong at all until you looked under it and saw fuel dripping out the bottom.

some people use q-tips but I like match heads. The seat is also replaceable on those bikes. May want to buy a carb kit.

THIS
that is the only thing it can be.. unless you put the needle back in backwards but the bottom of the the needle should be attached to the float so i doubt that you did that but its possible.

only 3 things it can be
1- tip of needle gets misshapen from sitting on seat
and needs to be replaced or buffed with match like mo said or
2- the seat is removable and the oring around it is bad.. this is usually the prob on hondas and yamahas.
3- sometime the spring on the needle is week and will let gas push by.
the spring should be strong enough to hold the float up when you turn carb upside down..
put a drop of oil on the seat before you put back together and a needle will never stick again
if you need more info post back here and I will check this afternoon and give you my ph number..

I was thinking about getting a kit like you are showing and rebuild it again. If I do that, do they make one that ups the horsepower a little bit?

Check the end if the needle to see if the rubber on the end has a groove in it. Even the slightest grove will cause it to leak after you take it out because the groove does not line back up like it was originally.

definitly put a jet kit in it if it has a big bore kit

Cool thats what I will do. You wouldnt happen to know the part number for the jet kit that I would need would ya?

not always...
a lot of bikes are lean from the factory so they will run at higher elevations

Also not sure if it has a "big bore kit". I sunk it in a swamp ride and had to get the piston replace and have it honed but was told a 450 jug would fit so he replaced my jug with a 450 jug and ordered the correct piston.

Even tho it still the original carb? I am guessing the 400 and 450 use the same carb? Or at least the same jets in the carb?
