Need some suggestions on lean meals

To cut a few pounds

I like my beers and was thinking that I will cut out bread all together to cut back on carbs. I'm a bachelor so it's easy to get a sandwich most time obviously.

I'm thinkn shrimp, fish and chicken. Are those good ingredients to start with?

Bean soups. Packed with protein and flavor, virtually fat free if you don't sautée the veggies. Millions of ways to spice them up for variety and as long as you presoak the beans you can avoid the "magical fruit" problem.

Will get no love here, but talapia is a good lean fish that takes seasoning well and bakes fine. Cook catfish fillets in a skillet with Worcestershire and garlic. As already said salmon and tuna are good but more expensive.

Chicken (no skin) baked or sautéed with seasoning is ok because you can eat more of it. White meat chicken has fewer calories than dark meat.

Green beans, broccoli, cauliflower are your friends.

Cheese, bread, starch potatoes, rice, gravy are bug no nos.

Stay away from beer. Drink massive amounts if water. The rust it creates in your pipes will help you to lose.

I lost 60 pounds about 9 years back like this.

Count calories if you can and stay as low as you can. Walk as much as you can

Good luck. A lot more fun to put it on than to take it off

I wouldn't give it love as a standalone dish, but tilapia does fine as an ingredient as it absolutely does absorb flavors well.

As for the OP, soup, soup, and more soup. Do a google search for weight-loss soup. Sift through the multitudes of cabbage soup recipes and find one that includes brown rice, tomatoes, and various other veggies. The cabbage soup just doesn't have enough vitamins and such.

When I was a broke rookie sales rep in West Tejas my waistline was expanding and I couldn't afford a new wardrobe so I took a weight-loss soup recipe from Men's Health and made a big batch. I separated into resealable yogurt cups(1/2 pint) and froze it. I'd eat a small breakfast, 2 y-cups at lunch, and one at dinner. Lost 15 lbs in 3 weeks.
