BTR financial advisors

If you were looking to open up an account to stick a chunk of change into some mutual funds for some longterm investments...where would you go?

Most people that post here hate advisors and think we offer no appreciable benefits. They are really a do it yourself crowd. You won't get many if any names. But good luck.

I would try to invest on my own, but if you want a good person that may or may not give you the best results...I would see Roger Sullivan at Wells Fargo off essen. He's a super person, great guy with an awesome story. I have some money with him, I dont invest new money with him anymore. I just keep an account with him so I can call him once a year to ask how he's doing and shoot the breeze.

Very true. I did a search for financial advisor threads months ago. It talked me out of seeing a financial advisor very quickly. I probably should still see one even after reading the numerous posts saying otherwise.

I second the recommendation of Carl Benedict. My experience with Carl is that he does not have a cookie cutter, one size fits all approach to planning for his clients. He actually devises plans based on getting to know his clients, their expectations and risk tolerances. I also recommend you interview more than one financial planner to find one that you feel comfortable with. Whomever you choose will have influence, if not control, over a significant portion of your capital available for investment.

If you're just getting into the investing world, you REALLY should see a good advisor before trying to go at it on your own.

A good advisor will be a teacher, not a salesperson.

I do a lot of my own investing, but I still talk to my adviser periodically, and every time I talk to him, I learn something. And the more I learn, the more money I make.

Or advisor? Either way, depending on our situation you may or may not need to see someone.

I keep getting a spelling error when I type 'advisor'
