Honestly, I'll probably get crucified for this statement but Bregman would probably be an above average leadoff hitter. He is great in the 3 hole, so I'm not suggesting move him. But he doesn't strike out, gets on base a lot, and appears to be one of our more intelligent base runners.

Just a thought, but don't expect to ever see this happen.

Laird needs to be in the leadoff spot.

I wouldn't mind seeing this...I'm not a fan of Rhymes in the 2 hole, although I think that is a good spot for him at the next level. As small ball happy as CPM is, I would hate to see Rhymes' bat wasted on sacrifice bunts 2-3 times a game. I still live in the little league days of "let your best hitters swing away".

i think this is a winner. Laird is an obvious leadoff choice..can get on base so many ways with his speed. And while Rhymes has only average speed, he handles the bat so well that you can hit and run without much fear...and often get Laird to third.

I would at least like to see that order a few times...could be nasty.

Stephenson
Laird
Bregman
Katz
Rhymes
Jones
Ibarra
Ross
Chinea

People are gonna just start walking Katz. He needs protection.

Would be totally cool with Stephenson and Laird switching. Laird at leadoff would be very solid.

Laird is the perfect 2 hole hitter. He handles the bat very well. Whoever DH's for Ty Ross will hit first.

The guy hitting behind him has a higher average than rhymes.

Just leave the middle of the lineup alone. It doesnt not need to be adjusted.

Agreed, 3-6 in the lineup have been consistently good, no need to change.

Because he handles the bat well. He can go the other way. He hits lots of singles. He can move a runner along. He can hit and run.

What does speed have anything to do with hitting in the 2 hole?

ETA: I don't think he will move to the two hole. I am just saying those are pretty typical characteristics of a 2 hole hitter. He doesn't really have many characteristics of a 4 hole hitter.

He really isnt THAT slow...and he really isnt a slugger. I personally want someone who can hit/handle the bat very well in the 2 hole. The only reason you're worried about his speed is because of the double play scenario?

I like our lineup the way it is...seems to be working. But no one should be going crazy over people curious about a lineup with Laird and Rhymes as the 1 and 2.

Doesn't put up the power numbers of a traditional clean-up, and I agree that he has ideal characteristics of a 2 hole hitter. If I new it wouldn't be an automatic bunt every time he had a runner on base, I would love to see him in the 2 hole.
