Just watched Rock of Ages.

Don't understand the hate.
I enjoyed it.
The bad dialogue, bad acting, numerous cliche' plot lines and all were obviously intentional.
It's Camp and it was fun for a mindless watch.
Reading the reviews on RT, it's like tons of critics didn't even get it.

I agree with this. Was not expecting much. Silly story. Some good, if cheesy music. Entertained me and the wife, and I only spent about $5 or so to rent. No complaints.

I just tried to start watching it on demand and turned it off 5 mins later. Is the entire movie a musical? I wasn't expecting that.

Good way to listen to some old music.
Nothing special but music like that will never come around again!

I wasn't expecting it to be a musical either but if you hang out long enough to realize it is intentionally a bad movie, it becomes a pretty fun watch, especially if you are from the era.
It's Camp, satirizes alot of 80s movie and cultural cliche's and has some great music. I guess I just got the joke.
Maybe the critics expected more from a movie with so many heavy hitters and maybe many of them were too young to get alot of the inside jokes that 40ish people did.
Tom Cruise was hilarious. He was the only guy playing a real role while most everyone else was playing over the top.
Anyone 35-45 or so would really enjoy it. I can see people outside of that age range not getting it.

I made it about 30 minutes in before I couldn't take it anymore.
Waste of $5.99

A lame attempt at a 2000s rocky horror picture show
I liked it for what it is
My 12yr old daughter loved it

I loved this movie. It was first a musical on Broadway (2005).
I loved Tom Cruise' character. He nailed it.
The music was great. I watched it a couple time the other night.

I thought the Tom Cruise/Paul Giamatti stuff was money. When they focused on anybody other than them, it really fell flat. So an uneven movie to me, but I didn't hate it.

Was he supposed to be Bret Michaels?

I have seen it a couple times. it isn't an awesome movie by any means but the music itself is great. I throw it on just to listen to the music while I am doing something else.

Just watched this movie.
Cheesy acting, bad dialogue but the music brought back memories of my early years. Still remembered most of the lyrics.
80's hair and clothes. Yeah we destroyed the ozone deal with it.

What a soulless pile of shite this was. I saw the Broadway show and loved it. The movie version sucks balls. Tom Cruise was pretty good but otherwise completely devoid of humor or a script.

I feel like this happens to most musicals when they are turned into films.
I have seen both Mama Mia, Rent, and Phantom of the Opera multiple times with different casts on the stage and they were great.
However, I thought the movie versions were terrible.
I didn't watch the whole film and never saw it performed live but I got the feeling the same is true for ROA.
