This is probably the closest sounding contemporary band.

They get more undeserved shite than any current band of which I am aware.

There's just something about their style that I just don't like. I think its the singers voice

Because I love the Black Keys but don't like KoL at all, but I kinda get the comparison

They're the Matchbox 20 of the 21st century.

I've got nothing against people who like Kings of Leon. In fact, I love college chicks.

No, they pretty much deserve all of the shite they get.

They used to sound a lot like Drive by Truckers, Backyard Tire Fire, and Local Natives. Now they sound a lot like what the color beige would sound like if it was a band.

The reason they sounded like they did on that first album is because they weren't that good at playing instruments. They've acknowledged the same.

To each their own. I like every single one of their albums.

you can't post a question like this on the music board. bunch of music snobs on here. if it isn't some obscure band that you and I haven't heard of, they don't like them

Yes, I am aware of how they have largely disowned the music they made that was actually good. Which is part of why I don't like their music now. They lost sight of what made them good and interesting in the first place which has lead them to putting out bland and uninteresting stuff now. But, hey, they have large mansions with swimming pools, so good on them. I doubt they care.

While you may be correct in your assessment

this is an oxymoron

Maybe it wasn't 4 years ago.

Nice strawman. In addition to being neither what I said nor flowing logically therefrom, the above statement is simply incorrect.

Check some of their recent setlists and see how often you see "The Bucket", "Four Kicks", "Trani", "Molly's Chambers", "California Waiting", "Taper Jean Girl", and the like.

Or it's because they didn't have a record label breathing down their neck and made the kind of music they wanted to make. It was pure unrefined rock and roll akin to early Rolling Stones

I loved the first two albums. They just aren't the same band anymore and haven't been for years.

They definitely lost their "attitude" and that attitude was what made them special
