I didn't think Butler was leaving without a contract, and the Nnamdi talks have quieted. I was hoping for McKinnie getting inked, but that doesn't seem to be happening either.

I'm starting to think we are done with free agency. Maybe one signing of some insignificant player, but that's about it.

mentioned the phases of free agency in another thread. sumpin like...

Phase One- big money thrown at the biggest names. Players have the leverage

Phase Two- (now) Players make the rounds visiting and sort out which offer is best for them. Leverage balances out.

Phase Three- Players start taking whatever is offered cuz the available free agent money starts drying up. Teams have all the leverage.

As a team without a lot of cap to spend we were fortunate to get one player in Phase One. And that is cuz it was widely reported that Lewis gave a discount to play here. Namdi, Butler, McKinnie, & prolly some others we don't even know about yet are in play. Some may sign, some may walk. They'll be more names coming though when Phase Three engages.

None of the guys you listed have signed with another team, so I don't see any reason to think that we're completely out of it. I'd be shocked if we didn't sign at least one of the three. We don't have a ton of space but we certainly can squeeze at least one of them in.

Merchandising 101:

Retail

Wholesale

Liquidation

Saints are liquidation buyers right now. You get what everyone has picked over, but that doesn't mean you can't find what you need!

One of the strangest years for FA's I can remember guys.
Funny....but anyone heard from any famous or not so famous loud mouth sports agents lately?
Silence.
There will be player ramifications over the last deal signed by the players union.
But for now the owners are on top for once.

The market has been so stiff this year, i wouldnt be suprised if some collusion accusations start getting thrown out there later on in the offseason

As soon as the season was over. Too bad you didn't start your comedian lessons at the same time. It would have been money well spent.
