A question about rhetoric

I keep hearing liberal journalists and politicians say "Now is not the time for cutting govt spending programs because we are still in a sluggish economic recovery."

Well, we've been in a sluggish recovery for 5 years. When will the sluggish recovery end and we return to robust growth? 20 years? 50 years? Will it be OK to cut govt spending 100 years from now?

Until we begin to drastically change our economic policies and regulations we will not see robust growth.

1) Contracting or zero growth: can't cut. Need stimulus

2) Sluggish Growth: Can't cut. Slowly getting better

3) "Normal" Growth: Can't turn back. Just getting good traction

4) Great Growth: Why cut? Economy is zooming. What's the need or reason?

I agree, the Government looks at business as the redheaded step child and not the bread winner...
