Another reason why pocic wont start. Hawkins would be starting LT if collins stayed at lg. If he passes up hawkins, then we dont have a good enough depth on the oline.

Pocic looks like a RS Junior and not like a guy that should be ordering a Prom tux.
Get a few solid pounds on him and hopefully he'll be the next Andrew Whitworth?

from the little we've seen, he looks pretty dominant out there.

I agree, that guy wearing 55 on defense is pretty huge. All of these new numbers are hard to keep up with.

Whether I know the numbers or not, this may be the best, deepest OLine we've had since the 90's and early 2000's.

FWIW Porter is back at practice and Mett is very happy about it

So Mett saying we are screwed if Porter goes down? Any thoughts who will be the next man come September?

Stud and Miles are preparing for a Porter injury about as well as a Chris Faulk one last year. Just throw a 6'7 ogre in a center, nothing could go wrong.

When is the last time we had a major center injury? I know that Lonergan missed time in many games and a few games altogether last year. Was it Big Ben?

Until they get actual game experience they are just big young dudes. I wouldn't want two freshmen having to step up this fall due to injuries. There is enough position changing as is and I don't envision Williford as a viable backup center.

That's scary to me. How the frick does a major program like LSU have ONE center, and inexperienced at that. Too many eggs in the Porter basket IMO

Have to agree with you Max, no plan B at all (sound famiar?) Just cross fingers and hope Porter doesn't get hurt

You don't wait on an injury to find a quality backup

I'll agree with that portion of the statement. I imagine they'll try to cross train several guys to provide some flexibility along the OL in case they lose someone.

Word is that Trindon's quickness in getting to the second
level makes him an intriguing option at backup center.

May have to snap with two hands though.

Yep

Still remember the old folks yelling "why is our quarterback on the special teams! Les Miles is an IDIOT!!" like it was yesterday

I'm not sure either who the plan B would be for this year. It seems like Clapp is someone they have recruited to be our future center though. Which is somewhat comforting going forward. A Brother Martin guy, following in P.J.'s footsteps, perhaps.

FYI....The LSU roster, like most teams, has several duplicated numbers, one player on offense (white jersey) and one on defense (purple). Knowing that helps to avoid the confusion. Hopefully, that will assist you.

I thought you were implying that since centers seem to rarely get injured that it's not that big of a deal to have a quality backup. That's all, no big whoop
