What is the best game you ever witnessed?

Mine would have to be the 1989 Ruston vs Brother Martin game. Final score was 59-56 Brother Martin. This was at Ruston and the year after Brother Martin got screwed at Tad Gormley losing in OT 7-6 on a missed point after attempt.

I am a brother martin grad, so I guess I am biased.

Ruston had won 15 straight home games and were 13-0 that year. School let out early so my grandpaw was able to take me and a friend of mine up to North LA to see the game. I still think that is the best game I have ever seen in person, NFL, College or High School.

LSU Houston in 1996 was a close second on games I have seen in person.

I have also been to each of the BCS NC's as well, but for some reason don't have those up there. The oklahoma game would probably be third on my list.

What say you?

Not sure if the year but the playoff game between Rayville and Patterson was pretty good.

Rayville was led by senior, Richard Murphy and Patterson was led by some kid who ended up playing at LaTech. It was an absolute slugfest. Patterson ended up advancing. Helluva game.

Mine was a Lutcher/Amite playoff game. I think it as in '03 (could have been the '06 run though) and if I recall it was the semis.

Great game with two talented teams going blow for blow. Great atmosphere. The place was packed. Several buses went up from Lutcher and a lot of people in cars.

The lines were so long for the bathrooms that some people took to trying to use the bushes. Cops would put them out the stadium but they all got back in after waiting a few mintues.

And, Lutcher won.

(to the OP - not any of my business of course but if you put the something like "your favorite LA HS football game" in your subject line, I bet you'd get more response).

The game that put West Monroe on the map. 1993 semifinal against St Aug at West Jeff. St Aug was #1 all year and had a ridiculously talented team. They outweighed WM by 60 pounds per man across the front lines. They had Jamal Fobbs and several other weapons on offense. West Monroe won 34-33 in OT when Eddie Stephens intercepted St Aug's 2 point attempt. Never understood why the superior team would go for two.

1. st. aug has historically struggled at PATs

2. treating a kickoff like a punt hurt too...

forgot about that game..

and that 95 salmen curtis quarterfinal game..

As well as giving up a kickoff return for a TD. Aug was the better team, but the better team doesn't always win.

I only recall one game and it was before I was at school there, Jesuit against St Aug in the dome in 77 I think. Couldn't tell you the score but I had fun.

Wasn't there some epic match up of two West Bank teams in the 80s? Ehret against ?

West Jeff with Gary James, I was to young to go to that one, but everyone was talking about it.

1999 5A Championship Evangel and WM. Most anticipated matchup to live up to hype as well. First clash of the titans, Both defending state champs, Nationally ranked. Epic game from start to finish. 20-14 Evangel prevailing!
