Television producer and writer Henry Bromell, who was part of the team that picked up an Emmy for Showtime's "Homeland", has died, CNN's confirmed.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Bromell passed away Monday at St. John's Health Center in Santa Monica, California, at the age of 65.

In addition to Showtime's addictive series about a bipolar CIA agent and a duplicitous war vet, Bromell has worked on "Northern Exposure," "I'll Fly Away," "Chicago Hope," "Rubicon" and "Brotherhood."

Damn, he has quite the resume. But correct me if I'm wrong, since he's just a producer, it virtually will have no effect on the show, right?

at least I hope.

Yeah, aren't producers typically just the money? Or is that Executive Producers? I didn't think they really did much.

Yeah, I always just assumed either that, or they were just a name to lend credibility to get a show put on initially.

For the most part, occasionally a producer will have creative input

Incorrect. In television, producers (and especially exec producers--usually referred to as "showrunners") have a lot to do with creative. In movies, producers often don't do shite except for bring the loot to the table.
