Also,

Even though it has been there forever, I mentioned 2 that I still like

Tulane and Loyola are right next to each other and are uptown - assuming you mean the universities and not the avenues.

Some areas of mid-city are good, and he'll get more for his money there than uptown. Having said that, I'd prefer a smaller place in the good parts of uptown.

New Orleans isn't exactly home to good cajun food, but a lot of good creole food.

As far as your suggestions of BBQ Shrimp at Pascal's or Oysters at ACME, I'd say he'd be a lot better off with BBQ shrimp at Mr. B's and oysters at Casamento's.

My post typed earlier didn't register for some reasan. The City Park area from Bayou St John to Delgado is a fairly peaceful area of NOLA. The area north of Claiborne to the lake really isn't too badlandish.

there is an apartment for rent right now off of Allard blvd right next to City Park. I saw it driving through there last weekend. I would jump on that ASAP. 1 bedroom for like $600ish on the bottom floor of one of those mansions. I think the address was 43 Allard blvd

ETA: I do not own or know the owner of this apt

add Lakeview and Old Metairie, although both may be tough in getting a 1 BR apt.

Warehouse District would be great for a young guy, especially if working with the Hornets.

These type of places can be found out in Harahan and part of Metairie & Kenner .. although there aren't a ton of them. If he's looking to eat this kind of food uptown, I guess Joey K's? Even though it's not very good. Also Coop's in the FQ and K-Paul's in the FQ if he wants to spend a ton of money.

Okay .. Your favorite - for what ? ... what does that mean?

I'll +1 the idea of living in the Warehouse District. Working for the Hornets that would be ideal. Also look in the Broadmoor and Fountainbleu areas.

A different city.

New Orleans does not have a lot of cajun...we are Creole influences mostly (very very subtle differences, but still different).

If you insist on it, the best are probably K-Paul's, or a better restaurant but not totally traditional cajun: Cochon.

Pascale Manale is ok and ACME is tourist garbage. You should be ashamed for recommending that.

I meant...like what is your favorite restaurant and your favorite dish there.

I know NO is more creole, but I had something like Mike Anderson's in mind for fried food...

it has been a while since I have been able to get to NO..get home to BR, but not to NO.

Thanks to all ...all info is appreciated.

In one of the greatest food cities in the world you want to recommend somewhere akin to Mike Anderson's? In that case tell him to go to New Orleans Hamburger and Seafood Co. They have shitty fried fish there.

For fried seafood- cassamentos
Oysters- dragos

Also not sure what his job description is, but if its entry level I doubt he can afford warehouse district on his own dime
