Anyone ever launched here? I usually launch at Breton Sound Marina but where I plan on fishing I dont need to go that far. TIA

There is always a chance that you could lose your trailer and truck to the abyss at the end of that boat ramp. We used it about three years ago and survived.
Edit. Nvmd, im thinking of a launch on hopedale highway towards BSM

How big is your boat?
Launch is good. If your boat is big, it may be a little unwieldy. I've launched 16' flat boats and 20' bay boats with no problems, but the launch is not big in terms of space. Also, one of them is or was pretty crooked. I think it was the one closer to the road, but that may have been taken care of. It wasn't a problem launching so much as retrieving. Mike who runs it is very helpful and friendly, always has advice, etc.
ETA - the current can be a real bitch right there too sometimes.

I have a 18' Bay Boat. Also where is the best and easiest place to get bait on the way?

Mike will help you if you need it. It's a bit bumpy, but solid. No problems for me. Now running the bayou out, better wait to high tide. There is a lot of mud/grass in the first 2 miles going out to the lake. It's washing out, but still skinny waters.

Mike has live shrimp on very rare occasions. You can call him, his number used to be in the fishing Friday write ups. If not, Bait Inc. is the way to go.
When you run down the Reggio canal, it is best to stay on the left side of the split, but closer to the right hand back of that side of the canal. I see people run the right side from time to time, but know a few people who have been stuck on that side. You'll see soem tree branches and grass on the left side, but if you stay between those and the right hand back you should be fine. (Is this confusing enough? look at it on google maps and you'll see what I mean). Me and the people I know who have fished down there their entire lives, and know more than me, always take the left.

I duck hunt out of reggio 20-30 times a year. The launch is fine and you will be able to make it through the canal but stay on the right side of the islands (south side). I've only been stuck once and it was on the north side. I had the canal marked with PVC pipes down the deepest part but Irene displaced them all.

Oh and if you want bait go down to sweetwater marine in delacroix, 10 minutes down the road and get some live shrimp there then come back up and launch at reggio.

Esau is saying to stay on the left side of the splits and you're saying right. Which one is it guys dont want to run in mud.

i dont think it matters. we saw more people on the left but when we went on that side we hit mud

Stay on the right but it doesnt even matter this time of the year. The water is 1-2 feet higher than when i usually run it. You won't have a problem.

Also, mike is the name of the launch owner. Ask him where the fish are. Really nice guy.

Run both sides and report back to us.
And are we talking running away from the launch or towards the launch?
