There is no figuring it out. 
Overall, it makes absolutely no sense, but dammit do we enjoy it.

I'd bet flores is way better in bed than Carmen. Plus we all know fleet and infantry don't mix.
And that brain bug scene and it's giant vaginal brain sucker makes the whole movie worth watching.
