In every single draft since 89, a PF or C went in the top 3 picks. A big will move up. They ALWAYS do.

honestly i havent watched Smart at all. I hate his percentages, but he is just a FR.

ive heard Westbrook comparisons, and that he is a really good defender.

id rather a guy like Oladipo, who is similar and more ready to play right away
Oladipo can't play point though. If thats what we're looking for

But yeah Smart is a horrible shooter. It also seems like people want to bunch him in with these new freak athlete PGs, but thats really not who he is. He's just big and physical. He's a good athlete, not close to great or elite and he doesn't finish above the rim. In that respect only, he's a lot like Rivers who's forced into these wild layup attempts.

He's being compared to Chauncey Billups from what I've seen.

Do teams with considerably worse records get a better chance at #1, or are they all weighted equal relative to their finish?

I.E. Does it matter if Charlotte finishes with 15 wins or 18 as long as they still have the worst record?

We need Orlando to stage a serious rally so we can at least get to the second most ping pong balls.

If we could fast forward 5 years I'd like Noel to be our pick this year.. Since that's not possible, I think we have to go with a guard or small forward.

If we end up with third best odds, we may just be able to choose whoever we want again

Yeah size wise Smart can be a combo guard, especially defensively. He does play with a true PG mentality offensively, though.

After winning the lottery last year, I think we'll kind of pay for it this year by ending up with 5th or so pick. That would probably put us with Otto Porter, Shabazz Muhammad or Alex Len.

Clearly not if we have a top 5 pick but if we somehow got a shitty pick I wouldn't be that upset about a center

Shabazz will have the Carmelo effect and he'll never be what Melo is

Just as long as they have the worst record they have the best chance.

Not that this will happen but I did some research on which team won the lottery the most in the last 28 years of the lottery:

the team that finished 3rd worst has won the lottery = 21.4%
the team that finished 5th worst has won the lottery = 17.86 %
the team that finished last and second worst won the lottery = 14.3% (same percentage for each)
the team that finished 6th worst has won the lottery = 10.7%
the team that finished 7th worst has won the lottery = 7.1 %
the team that finished 4th, 8th, 9th, and 11th has won the lottery = 3.57% (same percentage for each)

the Hornets and Cavs tied this past year and the Hornets were considered 3rd in this statistic and in 2003 the Cavs tied the Pistons with worst record (drafting LBJ) and they are considered last in this statistic

anyway this isnt that important i just thought i was interesting to see what spot gets picked the most in the brief history of the lottery system

He's only been here for about a week, so he's somewhat forgotten.

Thoughts?

I don't like it for several reasons, his knee being #1. The other issue is that he is very small for a center. He seems even skinnier than Davis did. He has little to no offensive game. I just don't see him effectively guarding the 5 in the NBA for a few years. Thus, we extend the rebuild.

For some reason, the worst team doesn't end up with number one. It's almost always one of the "better" teams.

Being in the bottom four would be for the best though...
