House purchase

This might be a stupid question, but I want to find out more information about zoning/restrictions around a house I want to purchase in BTR. I had heard that they had a regulation in the neighborhood about how close to the street the structure could be and I didn't know where to go to find this information. Is the clerk of court a good place to start? Basically, this house will only be viable in the long run if we can add on to it, and we will not be able to do that without ensuring their are no rules against building out.
Any thoughts/ideas?
Thanks in advance!

Baton Rouge Safety and Permits
Contact that office and ask if they have a zoning department. Ask if you can set up a time to meet with someone.

The clerk of court would have all maps and restrictions filed.
Look up the neighborhood name at the clerk of court and look for restrictions or maps. The people their should be able to get it for you.
Find your lot on the map and see if there are any servitudes.
For the restrictions, you just have to read it. Normally they aren't too long. It will lay out any limits on where you can build clearly.
Also, when you close, the closing attorney will pull all this info when he reviews the title.
If this is the only impediment to you purchasing the home, call your title company and tell them your concerns. They can easily pull the maps or may even have them already.

Contact the homeowner's association for the neighborhood. They will be more than happy to share with you any deed restrictions that may be in effect.
