They opened for the first time, in a month, this weekend due to high water.
I'm dying to sight in my 15-22 and see how it shoots so I'm about to head out that way. I'm sure it's gonna be packed like sardines though.
I'll report back when I can.
Anyone wanna join me, hit me up at: CDANIEL76@YAHOO.COM
You need at least a hunting or fishing license to shoot there.

Wow! Surprised how quiet it is out here.
15 rifle lanes and maybe 8 are being used, 4 of them by a guy with a class.
Maybe 6 people on the pistol range and 6 people on the shotgun range.
This place is NICE! First time I've been out here.
P. S. This 15-22 is a fricking blast to shoot!
Sighted in at 25 yards and hitting clay targets at 100 with a 4x30 scope.

Let me know when you go back out there and I'll come join you. I"ve got a few rifles that need sighting.

HIS shooting range has gotten better over the years. Most Range officers are OK. Some when it first opened with officers were to much to handle.
Nice place to shoot.
A lot better than the old days out there where it was a free for all. You could be checking your target at 100 yds and a guy is shooting his at the other end of you. Those days were dangerous and long gone.

I honestly see no problem at all if a Range Officer stops me from doing something he deemed unsafe or against the rules. He's out there for 1 reason and 1 reason alone; TO KEEP EVERYONE SAFE.
He's likely seen it all and has experienced it all and if his spidey senses go off and he sees something unsafe and stops me or the entire range, then I'd rather that happen than someone get shot or killed.
It really is a great place and the officers run a top notch ship. There's 5 officers and they all communicate via bull horns to notify one another of shooters moving from range to range.

Will do. I have your email and will let you know.

hypnos: Any bigfoot sightings?
There's no Bigfoot in Honey Island, but there is a Swamp Monster

Exit 5B off I-59 North. Just before the Mississippi State Line. It's about 3.5 miles back into the swamp down a paved road for the first 2 miles, then a rock road once you turn onto the road that brings you to the range. Here's a link to it on Google Maps. Rifle range is only 100 yards long so if you're looking to sight anything in further than that, you're SOL. But yes, it's great for sighting in.

You shoot the DE?
Nah. Just wanted to sight in the new 15-22. Besides. I only have 1.5 boxes of ammo for it.

Here's a cool story bro...
Was at a public range a few years ago and the range was hot. Out of the corner of my eye I saw this dude start walking downrange to check his target. I scolded him and then packed my shite up and left.

I would have done the same thing.

beats being down range with a guy shooting a .357
Glad those days are gone
Yes those guys run it well.
Years ago a guy was a eye protection hound. I'd lift my glasses to shoot my rifle. He would always fuss about it. Sorry, I shoot without glasses through my scope
