I know the color guy was the usual LSU color guy (or at least it sounded like him), but the play by play guy I had never heard. Was he with Miss St.?

No he has been filling in for Jim and Charlie for a long time. Pat wright and bill franques are the b team. I like them though

Patrick Wright...he typically does softball and womens basketball. I've enjoyed listening to him do those games for years and thought he did a good broadcast last night.

There was another thread last night where the diehard Hawthorne supporters were in a panic because they feel that Hawthorne is the only person on the face of the earth qualified to call a ball game

I like the fact that Patrick actually knows what happened 2 innings ago without having to be corrected.

Franques has been doing color commentary on the road for years. Def not a "b-teamer"

Wasn't Wright part of the regular broadcasts at home years ago?

So because I can't stand Wrights voice Im a Hawthorne fan? I'll take Wright any day for his ability to call a game. It's just his voice that is unbearable to hear. It's worse than the www.copy.com commercial guy.

Hawthorne sucks and shouldn't be allowed near a microphone again.

I always enjoy listening to Patrick Wright and enjoyed listening him call Women's Basketball when I lived in my home state down there. Definitely enjoying listening to him do LSU Baseball and IMO does a good job at it.

PW used to call a lot of the baseball games before they moved him over to the women's sports. One time, only the SEC games were on the radio network, so Wright would do a lot of the nonconference games locally on KLSU

Patrick Wright is excellent. His voice is a little twangy, but he paints the picture very well. He is much better than Hawthorne, I hope he takes over when he finally decides to hang it up. Hannigriff is good too, but his voice gets a little slobbery. But like Wright, he paints the picture well and better than Hawthorne. Either one would be fine, I'm just so ready for Hawthorne to go. And I used to be a HUGE Hawthorne fan, but he just isn't as good anymore.

Did I hear that Charlie was on vacation. Seems a strange time to take vacation time in that line of work. Why not in dead time ( end of summer) when nothing is going on, not opening of SEC baseball weekend. Just sayin.
