The Power of the Rant

OK, folks -
In a previous thread about Tiger Stadium before the upper decks, I mentioned in a response that former Tiger great, Andy Hamilton, was not in the LSU Hall of Fame. Several other responders said they were surprised as well. So, let's get him in.
For those youngsters on here, he was LSU's leading receiver his Jr. and Sr. year '70 & '71). I beleive he was an All SEC both years as well. His performance against Notre Dame in '71 was epic. He is also former Govenor John McKeithen's son in law.
In the interim, LSU has had some great receivers, but none as smooth as Hamilton. Check the stats...for a receiver playing on a run-oriented team, he stood out.
He represented LSU well both on and off the field. He is now a minister. A couple of years ago when Bert Jones spoke to our men's group at church, he said Andy was doing missionary work in China. Anybody else on here think he is worthy of the honor ?
And for the sake of full disclosure, I am not related to him and have never met him in person.

I stopped right here. Was he all SEC both years or not? Need to know.

Did he graduate? That's a requirement.

Can we get Y.A. Tittle's Jersey retired while we're at it? I don't want him to die before that happens. If there is anyone other than Billy Cannon and Casanova who deserves it, it's Y.A. Tittle.

was going to ask the same thing. was he ever an all-american? win any awards? a couple of all SEC selections doesn't get you into the hall of fame
ETA: dandy don only lists him as all SEC in 1971

Meh, his pro career was far more decorated than his college career.

Honestly, if anyone deserves their jersey retired, it's either Kevin Faulk or Glen Dorsey. Dorsey pretty much won every honor a defensive player can win, plus a national title.

He deserves it. Put him up there.

I like your enthusiasm, but how was that relevant?

So what have you set up to expedite this? What is your plan?

Uh....
Nah....too easy.

I know some think it's dumb, but I think it's speaks to his character that he delayed gratification of NFL bucks to stay an extra year to try(successfully,) and get LSU a NC.

I would be all for these even though I never saw Hamilton play myself. He has some great clips, though, including one in which he absolutely abuses a DB for Notre Dame.
By the way, the Wiki entry on the LSU Hall lists YA as already being in. I was surprised to see Wendell Davis wasn't in there. Not sure if Davis has a degree but if he does, that should be a no-brainer.

He set passing records that weren't broken until Bert Jones came along. Cotton Bowl MVP...when the CB was a big game. Tittle deserves it

Why does this matter?

Most decorated player in LSU history I'm pretty damn sure.
I don't think it needs to be retired right now though. That's more of a thing for after your career is finished.

It's like a math word problem where they add in extra information to throw you off. Here's the relevant stuff:
1. leading receiver his Jr. and Sr. years
2. one-time All-SEC selection
3. had a big game against Notre Dame
not hall-worthy imo
