There are ways to integrate stormwater controls with site plans so that large retention and detention areas are not needed. These integrated designs are cheaper to build than traditional stormwater infrastructure.

I'll get off my soapbox now as this isn't what the thread was supposed to be about. I just like to remind people of the importance of stormwater management.
