Debate at work...

Does a good QB make a better receiver?

I think so!

Wes Welker and Brandon Stokley aren't shite without Peyton and Tom.

Nothing worse than running 50 yards and the ball is thrown nowhere close.

Chicken and egg argument.

There will be little consensus and a lot of bitching and arguing.

Should be a good thread.

depends. Peyton's WRs are made by him.

But then you have Julio, Roddy, and Tony G that I think completely make Matt Ryan look better than he is.

There is no definitive answer here. Manning can make any receiver good. Brady can too. Then you have Randall Cunningham and Daunte Culpepper who got to throw to Moss and Carter, which clearly made them better.

It can go both ways.

A great QB can make receivers better

A great receiver can mask a bad QB to some degree

How is this remotely possible?

If a cook serves shite, doesn't make it steak if a King is eating it.

Is Steve Young anywhere near the HOF if he is not throwing to JR?

Argument can go either way, so this pretty dumb.

I'll take superstar QB and avg WR every single time.

A great QB can make an average WR great, while a great WR can make an average QB look great.

If you have a shitty QB though, a great WR won't make a difference.

Yep.

Steve Young was one of the best quarterbacks of his day, with or without Rice. He had every skill set John Elway had and, arguably, some of which he did a bit better.

You can make a case for both, but I think it I had to pick one it's the WR making the QB. Look at UGA 2009 for proof.

Joe Cox was a pretty pedestrian QB, yet he set a UGA touchdowns in a season record. Why? Well, he had AJ Green to throw to. If you have a receiver that you can essentially throw the ball anywhere within about 7 yards of him and he's gonna catch it everytime, it can damn sure make a QB look good.
