I am all for the gays to have EQUAL rights (as opposed to privileges over singles). But, the percentage of things on the internet and tv gay related compared to percentage of actual gays in the population is ridiculous.

Yea thats not true. Epigenetic traits are heritable traits not associated with strict DNA base sequences. Has nothing to do necessarily with intra-/extra-uterine environments.

I'm not an expert...regardless, it means it is not a "choice". And the articles I read suggest it occurs before birth (in utero) in this specific instance.

So what are you implying by labeling someone as "abnormal" or "unnatural"

While homosexuality does naturally occur in other species, it is usually the result of gender deficit. Calling what we see in modern humans "natural" is dishonest, imo.

There is a much better argument to call it natural than normal, however.

Should they be denied certain rights based on that label?

I don't think so.

If being gay was genetic? This is not a hard thing to decipher.

Huh? The prevalence of the specific allele, for one.

Thank you! That's how I feel. No ill will to gays at all. I have gay friends and a gay cousin. I don't care if you are gay.

TV makes it seem that half the world is gay.

No...it doesn't. I realize that if there was no hyperbole or titties there would be no need for the internet, but just stop.

Think of ALL those shows currently on TV...all the characters on them. How many are portrayed as openly gay? It's a small percentage given the totality of everyone on TV. shite...even if all you included were shows on A&E, Bravo, HGTV, Food Network, etc...it still wouldn't remotely be half.

No. As stated above, the presentation of sexuality on TV is overwhelmingly heterosexual. It's just not exclusively heterosexual like it used to be. You notice the gay stuff more because you either don't like it or aren't used to seeing it. It's like the people who still say "3rd and Chavis" even if we're leading the conference in 3rd down conversion defense. They don't notice the 70% of the time we stop them, they only notice the 30% of the time we don't. Like them, you don't notice the >90% of characters, messages, etc. on TV that represent heterosexuality, you only notice the <10% that represent homosexuality.

Would be curious to see the actual % if you ratio'd all gay programs/all programs....or take it down to the sitcom level only....or gay characters/all characters on sitcoms.

I'm more sick of social conservatives who try/want to legislate the private lives of everyone.

I agree...but holy hell that would be a project for someone else!! haha

Imagine going through every TV show on both cable and broadcast...every reality show...every news show...every documentary, etc. And not just main characters, but literally EVERY person that has anything to do on the show in any capacity. It would all have to count towards the total.

Then you'd have to agree that only those characters that are said specifically to be gay/bi count towards that total...everyone else would have to be considered heterosexual.

I don't think there's ANY WAY the percentage of people on TV is some astronomically high number when you sit for a moment and think about what that would mean.

I think it's pretty "gay" to bitch and moan about things you think are icky, rather than change the channel and move on with your life.

This board is full of tough guy social conservatives who are really just a bunch of pussies that cry when they see something they don't like. Then call it "pushing it" or "shoving it down our throats" or "ramming it through" or some other super-gay term.

re: Anyone else sick of the media trying to push ghey loving on us?

quote:

quote:Some people NATURALLY desire to 'make love' with dead people. Others...their kid or their pet. Or whatever. These 'abnormalities'/'perversions'...occur...naturally; just not in a significant % of the populous.

The fact that you go there poisons the well...as none of these things consists of two consensual adults. This is part of the problem...
quote:None of us give a crap about what you do with your sex;

If your above comparisons are any indication, it sure seems as if you do.

What does 'consent' have to do with virtue/principle, GT? Other than the principle of Free Will, as long as the choice does no harm. But if the choice DOES harm...then the fact that one consents, or chooses to ignore harm and serve selfless virtue or principle for the good of the society...becomes THE issue.

If choices are made in PRIVATE, that do no public (Principle) harm...then there is no harm and I REALLY DON'T CARE. However if issues become matters of Public Principle and policy, they then have potential to do harm.

As I oft posited, the whole homosexual/heterosexual dilemma, is really just SEXUAL. If homos or heteros base their life choices on SEXUAL URGES...guess what. Societal harm. The Bible warns against worshiping such a master, and the Secular Progressives (Hollywood, et al) seek to UNDERMINE the traditional authority of Biblical-based morality, and get rid of it in order to free their own consceince.

Bible thumpers react, not out of individual disrespect re free willed PRIVATE choices...but in defense of Biblical Principle, and the authority such has on the greater societal principles and culture.

The creation of children, the selfless love that is nurtured through the proper exercise of that act, and all the highly problematic responsibilities of nurturing rebellous dummies who think they know better than their 'old' parents...is an education which is analgous to the God-Man relationship.

There is a lot more than just begrudging somebody kinky sex in this whole deal...homo or hetero. And spiritual folk suspect as much. That's why the won't go away. Happy families and the painful and joyful education therein takes one to a place that eccentric sex can't. That said...it's kinda like the 'money aint everything in life'...but for some...'it's way out ahead of whatever is in second place'.

Sex for some...money (power) for some...to each their own.

THEY (conservatives) are the ones who use it to distract people from issues that affect their economic and other important interests. It is absolutely unbelievable that anyone on the conservative side would have the audacity to blame the left for making this an issue in order to cloud other issues.

What a load. The Democrats have using social issues to distract from economic issues down to an art. See this past election with birth control, the "war on women," the president coming out for gay marriage, and giving more lip service to immigration reform. This administration has failed to get the economy moving as they promised, and they successfully deflected using social issues. Even Obama said that if the economy (which was his main focus in his first election) wasn't roaring by the end of his first term, he'd be out of a job. Suckers.
