@AdamSchefter: Browns WR Josh Cribbs failed physical with Cardinals, per ESPN Cleveland. A meniscus issue. However Cribbs still could sign with AZ later.

re: The Official NFL Free Agency Thread

It looks like Elvis Dumervil will end up at either the Denver Broncos or Baltimore Ravens.

No, not at all.

And this was updated at 9:15 PM:
quote:

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. — The Broncos have not given up on Elvis Dumervil.
The team has been in talks with Dumervil's new agent, Tom Condon in hopes of bringing back their right defensive end who had 20 ½ sacks the previous two seasons.

The Broncos aren't the only team interested in Dumervil, though. The Baltimore Ravens are also negotiating with Condon. Other teams that showed at least initial interest after Dumervil was released Friday to free agency were New England, San Diego, Pittsburgh and Houston showed some interest initially.

The Broncos and Ravens seem to be the frontrunners.

Dumervil became a free agent when his revised, three-year, $30 million contract with the Broncos that included a reduction in his 2013 salary from $12 million to $8 million failed to get faxed in time to beat a 2 p.m. Friday deadline with the NFL office in New York.
Faced with having Dumervil's $12 million salary become fully guaranteed, the team released Dumervil to free agency.

After the fax fiasco, Dumervil fired fired his agent and hired Condon. One of Condon's first acts on Dumervil's behalf was to approach the NFL to see if the previous agreement between the two parties could be honored.
But the league denied Condon, as it did the Broncos a few days earlier.

"All contracts are reviewed by our office," said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. "If there is something significant they'll bring it to my attention, but those are done as a matter of course."
It's not like Denver has no chance.

Pretty sure Irsay was talking about Doug Baldwin

Jason La Canfora said he believes it's Jeremy Maclin or DeSean Jackson.

Seems like Jackson would be a good fit with Kelly, id keep him if i were Philly

I know Maclin is in a contract year so that makes sense

re: The Official NFL Free Agency Thread

Updating a previous item, Wes Welker's agency says the Patriots' lone offer was presented as "take it or leave it."
The bickering between Patriots owner Robert Kraft and Welker's representatives continues. Both sides agree that a two-year offer was presented just before free agency opened, but the terms and tone of the deal are in dispute. The agency also claims that once Welker got his two-year, $12 million offer from the Broncos, he personally contacted Kraft to give him a chance to match. The Patriots allegedly declined. According to NFL.com, their offer was two years for $10 million, along with incentives could have pushed the deal to $16 million.

I love the way the Patriots do business.

Yeah, LaCanfora said one source told him Jackson was off the table. Highly doubt he'd move him.

Maclin I could see though.

Chris Mortenson, of ESPN, also thinks that the Denver Broncos eventually re-sign Elvis Dumervil, although he mentions that it is in no way a lock to happen. He lists the Broncos as the favorites, followed by the Baltimore Ravens.

The Minnesota Vikings announced the signing of guard Seth Olsen on Tuesday.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Dolphins defensive tackle Randy Starks signed his franchise tender today.

The Texans and the agents for safety Ed Reed met again in Phoenix, but reports are that they aren’t any closer to a deal.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that the two sides are “not close” on agreeing to terms at this point in their conversations. According to McClain, the Texans offered Reed a contract that would pay him a little more than $4 million a year. Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun hears the same and adds that it was a three-year offer.

quote:

On the same day they made it official with new backup quarterback Matt Hasselbeck, the Colts announced that they have signed veteran defensive tackle Aubrayo Franklin. Franklin joins Ricky Jean Francois as defensive linemen brought into the fold this month and the team has also re-signed Fili Moala and Martin Tevaseu.
