That's a good jump. There's a freshman at st amant that has been jumping 20'+ since seventh grade. (no track this year acl injury)

Speedy Noil jumps 22 ft 11 inches. Pretty incredible for a high schooler.

Does Noil have any interest in pursuing track?

it's not that incredible. there are quite a few kids in LA jumping that. Some jumping 23 feet.

Back in 1979, when I was in 9th grade, I consistantly jumped 22'+ in practice, but I only officially broke 22' once in a meet (22'6"). Boots Garland, the Assistant T&F coach at LSU, was a friend of my dad's and he worked with me the summer before 9th grade. Working with him, learning proper technique, I added over 2' to my jumps.

I hated our track coach at Woodlawn(BR), so I quit before the District meet and didn't participate after that; besides, track season interfered with turkey season.

Looking at the video, Noil doesn't have good technique. With his obvious natural ability, if he were to work with someone who can "coach him up", I could see him adding 2 feet to his jumps and coming close to challenging the national HS record (around 26', I think). Hopefully, he'll come to LSU and participate in track as well as football.

Ok dude we know he didn't break the record for long jumps but you have to admit it still was impressive.
