What is your flavor Mr Parker?
The area has tons of great lunch spots. What part of town will you be around?

Bears is good but not a place for a leisurely sit-down lunch.

I had a good meal about a year and a half ago at a place called Louie and the Redhead Lady in Covington but not sure it's still there.

The one on Boston Street is no longer, something else is there now.

New Orleans Food & Spirits on Lee Lane is good. Cafe Rani on Lee/Boston, Yujin on New Hampshire for sushi, Chimes, Buster's, Megumi (still in Village Walk?), Acme, Garcia's on 190 (old Bonefish).

Go to Bears, you won't regret it. Might not be the best "sit down atmosphere" type of place, but it's what you want - good eatin'.

And I recommend the Ferdie poboy.

I've been a huge Bear's fan for years. It started out when I worked on the NS and then picked back up when they opened shop in Metry. If the NS is still run the same way it's better than the one on the SS. Ever since there was the right up in the newspaper about Bear's on the SS the quality of food as gone down hill. Once was a fan now I'll drive right by it on my way to a better shop.

There is a Covington location on Boston Street a block from Jefferson.

The Mandeville location moved from 190 next to Fazzio's, and now is in the strip mall on 22 with Megumi and Pontchartrain Po-Boys.

Mandeville - Liz's Where Y'at Diner. Get the Crabmeat grilled cheese, you won't regret it.

I know people are iffy about seafood and cheese together, and I am as well, but this was a different animal.

Bear's roast beef is the best I've had short of the one I made at home last night, which was monumentally delicious.

I ate at Chimes in January and it was pretty bad. Chargrilled oysters were okay, but the fried oysters were greasy, not crispy and appeared to have been fried in dirty oil. The coating wouldn't stay on. Didn't eat them. Another person sent back the gumbo. Wasn't good. They had an "after the boil" soup that was okay, but too spicy for most people there and nearly too spicy for me, which is unusual. There was a shrimp dish a few folks thought was okay. Service was very good, though.

All of these. Perhaps my favorite lunch place of those listed above is Coffee Rani on Lee Lane. Excellent Mediterranean Garden Sandwich.
