I have been to all the games and watching him lay off some of those pitches is great. He seems to be growing up and learning to take pitches.

That being said, he needs to start catching some damn breaks. Everything he hits goes right at a fielder.

All these stats only further my idea that Blake Dean is doing most of the hitting coaching.

Don't worry, you can enjoy offensive success without attributing to the hitting coach. He can always be the scapegoat.

How useful are SEC stats when teams in the SEC haven't played each other?

Unfortunately, he sometimes gets too selective. He seems afraid to pull the trigger even on hanging breaking balls and a lot of his Ks that I've seen are looking. Once he finds that balance of when to be patient and when to be aggressive, the hits will start pouring in.

Pitchers aren't afraid to hang one because he seems to have that "I'm never swinging at a breaking ball" approach. He needs to start punishing those "mistake" pitches.
