The only thing that matters is getting into the postseason.

No, that's just one guy's opinion.

NCBWA is probably the most credible since it's made up of 50 baseball writers.

It seems like Baseball America has always had a negative LSU slant...at least the last couple years. They are certainly the outlier this year too.

I'm not sure the NCBWA writers know a whole lot about teams other than the ones they are covering or have seen play the team they are covering.

They pay attention a lot more than the coaches who just look at records over the weekend and not who they played (ex. Vandy dropping below LSU for going 2-1 at Oregon). NCBWA is better than a Baseball America (1 guy) Perfect Game (1 guy) College Baseball Nation (1 guy) in the sense that the amount of people voting balances everything out.

Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, I think, has multiple people voting as well.

Surely they didn't keep them 1st after the series loss to Illinois.

Which one gave Alabama all those titles 30 years later? They tend to be pretty good.

I'm sure you're right but my (faulty) memory seems to recall many weeks of BA or maybe another poll having them at the #1 spot

Eh.. that's not true.

Look at the 2009 schedule on LSUsports.net. The ranking they use is BA's. LSU was #1 for a very small part of the season in that poll.

No but were in the top 5 pretty much the entire season.
